Ingredients:
- 1 cup water
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar (for coating)
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon (for coating)
- Chocolate sauce for dipping (optional, but highly recommended!)
Instructions:
1. Let’s kick things off by gathering all your ingredients! Get everything ready because we’re about to embark on a churro adventure. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the water, unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and salt. Bring it to a boil and get that deliciousness rolling.
2. Once it’s boiling, remove the saucepan from the heat and stir in the all-purpose flour. Keep mixing until it all comes together and forms a lovely ball of dough. Let it cool for a few minutes while you admire your work!
3. Now, it’s egg time! Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Pour in the vanilla extract and stir until everything is smooth and creamy. You’re just about there!
4. Next up, heat about 2 inches of vegetable oil in a deep skillet or pot over medium heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C). This is the magic moment when we fry our churros!
5. Grab a piping bag fitted with a star tip and transfer your cooled dough into it. Pipe 4-6 inch lengths directly into the hot oil, cutting the ends with scissors. Fry those beauties until they’re golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
6. Once they’re perfectly crispy, carefully remove them from the oil and let them drain on paper towels. Now it’s time to coat them in sugar and cinnamon! In a shallow dish, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon, then roll the warm churros in this sweet mixture until they’re beautifully coated.
7. The best part? Serving them warm! Enjoy your churros immediately and don’t forget to have some chocolate sauce on the side for dipping. Trust me, the combination is heavenly!
