Mediterranean Ground Beef Pita Pockets

Ingredients


For the Beef Filling


500 g (1 lb) ground beef

1 small onion, finely chopped

2 cloves garlic, minced

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp smoked paprika

½ tsp ground coriander

¼ tsp cinnamon (optional)

Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

2 tbsp olive oil


For the Pita Pockets


4–6 pita breads

½ cup crumbled feta cheese

1 cup chopped cucumber

1 cup chopped tomatoes

¼ cup sliced Kalamata olives

2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped


Optional Sauce


½ cup plain Greek yogurt or tzatziki


Directions


Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add onion and cook until softened, about 3 minutes.


Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant.


Add ground beef and cook until browned, breaking up with a spoon.


Stir in cumin, smoked paprika, coriander, cinnamon (if using), salt, and pepper. Cook 2–3 minutes until well combined and aromatic.


Warm pita breads and carefully open to form pockets.


Fill each pita with the seasoned ground beef.


Top with cucumber, tomatoes, olives, parsley, and feta cheese.


Add a spoonful of yogurt or tzatziki if desired and serve immediately.
