Ingredients:
1 lb ground beef
1/2 cup breadcrumbs
1 egg
1/4 cup milk
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
1 tsp Dijon mustard
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
1 tbsp olive oil
For the Mushroom Gravy:
2 cups beef broth
1 cup mushrooms, sliced
2 tbsp butter
2 tbsp all-purpose flour
1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp black pepper
Directions:
In a large bowl, mix the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, milk, onion, garlic, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and black pepper until combined.
Shape the mixture into 4 oval patties.
Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat and cook the patties for about 4-5 minutes per side, until browned. Remove and set aside.
In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté mushrooms for 2 minutes.
Sprinkle flour over the mushrooms, stirring to coat evenly.
Gradually whisk in the beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Let simmer until thickened.
Return the Salisbury steaks to the skillet, cover with the gravy, and simmer for another 10 minutes.
Serve hot with mashed potatoes or rice.
