This method involves pickling hard-boiled eggs for several days to weeks to absorb a hot, zesty flavor.

  • Prep Time: 15 mins

  • Pickling Time: 1–2 weeks (minimum 24 hours)

Ingredients:

  • 12 hard-boiled eggs, peeled

  • 1 cup white vinegar or apple cider vinegar

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1/4 cup hot sauce (Frank's RedHot is recommended)

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (or 2 cloves fresh garlic)

  • Optional: Sliced jalapeños, red onion, red pepper flakes for extra heat.

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Brine: In a saucepan, combine vinegar, water, hot sauce, sugar, salt, and spices. Bring to a boil, then simmer for 5 minutes until the sugar dissolves.

  2. Pack Jars: Place the peeled, hard-boiled eggs in a clean, heatproof jar, along with optional onions or jalapeños.

  3. Pour and Seal: Pour the hot brine over the eggs, ensuring they are completely submerged. Let it cool, then seal the lid.

  4. Wait: Refrigerate for at least 24 hours, but for the best flavor, let them sit for 1-2 weeks, gently shaking the jar every few days.
