Ingredients:
For the Steak:
2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (1-inch thick)
2 tablespoons olive oil
Salt and black pepper, to taste
1 tablespoon butter
For the Creamy Mushroom Sauce:
2 tablespoons butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
8 oz cremini or button mushrooms, sliced
1/2 cup beef broth
1 cup heavy cream
1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
1 teaspoon fresh parsley, chopped
Salt and black pepper, to taste
Directions:
Prepare the steak: Pat the steaks dry with paper towels and season both sides generously with salt and black pepper.
Grill the steak: Preheat the grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Brush the steaks with olive oil. Grill for 4-5 minutes per side for medium-rare (adjust for preferred doneness). Add 1 tablespoon of butter during the last minute to baste. Remove the steaks and let them rest for 5-10 minutes.
Make the mushroom sauce:
Heat butter and olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened.
Stir in the garlic and sliced mushrooms. Sauté for 5-7 minutes until the mushrooms are golden.
Pour in the beef broth and simmer for 2-3 minutes. Stir in the heavy cream and thyme. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Add the chopped parsley and stir to combine.
Serve: Place the grilled steak on a dark, stylish plate. Spoon the creamy mushroom sauce generously over the top. Garnish with fresh thyme and parsley.
Enjoy this rich, decadent steak topped with creamy mushroom perfection!
