Buttermilk Fried Chicken Tenders
1. Ingredients:
1. 1 pound chicken tenders
2. 1 cup buttermilk
3. 1 teaspoon garlic powder
4. 1 teaspoon paprika
5. 1 cup all-purpose flour
6. 1 cup breadcrumbs or crushed cornflakes
7. Salt and pepper to taste
8. 1/2 cup vegetable oil (for frying)
9. Fresh parsley for garnish
2. Directions:
1. In a bowl, mix the buttermilk with garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Add the chicken tenders, making sure they are fully coated. Marinate in the fridge for at least 1 hour or up to overnight.
2. In a separate bowl, combine the flour and breadcrumbs (or crushed cornflakes) with a pinch of salt and pepper.
3. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk and dredge each tender in the flour mixture, pressing firmly to ensure a good coating.
4. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Fry the tenders in batches for 3-4 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
5. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Tips:
- Pair with honey mustard, ranch, or BBQ sauce for dipping.
- For a lighter option, bake the tenders at 400°F (200°C) for 15-18 minutes, flipping halfway through.
Chef’s Tip:
- For extra crunch, double-dip the chicken by dredging it in the flour mixture, then buttermilk, and flour again before frying.
