Ingredients:
• 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts or thighs
• 1/4 cup hoisin sauce
• 2 tablespoons soy sauce
• 2 tablespoons honey
• 1 tablespoon sesame oil
• 2 cloves garlic, minced
• 1 teaspoon five-spice powder
• 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
• Salt and pepper, to taste
• Sliced green onions, for garnish
• Toasted sesame seeds, for garnish
Directions:
1. In a medium bowl, combine the hoisin sauce, soy sauce, honey, sesame oil, minced garlic, five-spice powder, and ground ginger. Whisk until well blended.
2. Place the chicken breasts or thighs in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring it is thoroughly coated.
3. Seal the bag or cover the dish, then refrigerate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight, to allow the flavors to develop.
4. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with aluminum foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup.
5. Remove the chicken from the marinade and place it on the prepared baking sheet. Reserve the remaining marinade for basting.
6. Bake the chicken for 20-25 minutes, depending on the thickness, until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
7. Halfway through baking, baste the chicken with the reserved marinade to add extra flavor and keep it moist.
8. Once fully cooked, remove the chicken from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes.
9. Slice the chicken and garnish with sliced green onions and toasted sesame seeds. Serve warm.
