Ingredients:
For the Chicken:
1.5 lbs (680g) boneless, skinless chicken thighs or breasts, cut into bite-sized pieces
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon onion powder
1/2 teaspoon paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
Cooking spray
For the Sauce:
1/3 cup soy sauce
3 tablespoons sugar
2 tablespoons rice vinegar
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon sriracha (optional for spice)
2 teaspoons cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
2 garlic cloves, minced
1 teaspoon grated ginger
For Garnish:
Sesame seeds
Sliced green onions
Directions:
Prepare the Chicken: In a bowl, combine cornstarch, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Toss the chicken pieces in the mixture until evenly coated.
Preheat Air Fryer: Preheat the air fryer to 380°F (190°C) for 5 minutes.
Cook the Chicken: Place the coated chicken pieces in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Lightly spray with cooking spray. Air fry for 12-15 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crispy.
Make the Sauce: In a small saucepan over medium heat, whisk together soy sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, hoisin sauce, sriracha (if using), minced garlic, and grated ginger. Bring to a simmer and add the cornstarch slurry. Stir until the sauce thickens, about 2 minutes.
Combine Chicken and Sauce: Toss the crispy chicken in the sauce until fully coated.
Serve: Plate the chicken and garnish with sesame seeds and sliced green onions. Serve hot with steamed rice or stir-fried vegetables.
