Ingredients:
1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 cups all-purpose flour
1/4 teaspoon salt
20 soft caramels (or 1 cup caramel sauce)
2 tablespoons heavy cream
1 cup milk or semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 teaspoon vegetable oil (optional, for smooth melting)
Directions:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Gradually add the flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
Roll the dough into 1-inch balls and place them on the prepared baking sheet, flattening each slightly to form a round cookie shape.
Bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Allow the cookies to cool completely on the baking sheet.
While the cookies are cooling, melt the caramels with heavy cream in a small saucepan over low heat, stirring until smooth. Spoon a small amount of caramel onto the center of each cooled cookie.
Melt the chocolate chips with the vegetable oil in the microwave in 20-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Drizzle or spread the melted chocolate over the caramel layer.
Let the cookies cool until the chocolate is set. Enjoy these Twix-inspired treats!
